Mid-1950s. Spring. An abduction of a girl has occurred.

Victim's mother receives a letter with ransom demands and immediately contacts police. She brings ransom to the appointed place while police lie in ambush, but no one comes for the money.

Two years later. Spring. A new girl has disappeared again.
